Community Guidelines

Effective Date: 11/17/2025

These guidelines establish the standards for behavior, communication, and content on FurryListings. By using this service, you agree to uphold a safe and responsible community environment.

1. Avoiding Common Pitfalls and Risks

To ensure a positive experience, all users—both Buyers and Sellers—must be proactive in recognizing and avoiding common mistakes and scams:

User Type

Common Pitfall / Risk

How to Avoid

Sellers/Adopters

Age Rule Violation: Listing pets under 8 weeks old.

Action: Never post an ad until the pet's Ready Date is past the 8-week minimum. Check your ad status for Pending rejections.

Sellers/Adopters

Inaccurate Listings: Using blurry photos or misrepresenting pet health.

Action: Always upload 5 high-quality, current photos and disclose all health details (vaccinations, spay/neuter status) honestly.

Buyers/Browsers

Falling for Scams: Responding to users who demand unsecured payments.

Action: NEVER wire transfer money or send gift cards. Use the Verified Badge filter and report any suspicious requests immediately.

Buyers/Browsers

Safety During Meeting: Compromising personal safety during pickup.

Action: Always insist on meeting the seller in a safe, public location for the initial viewing and transaction.

All Users

Ignoring Warnings: Not responding to moderation warnings.

Action: Check your email regularly. Failure to correct a violation can lead to account Suspension.

Red Flags: Excuses You Should Not Accept

A responsible seller will always prioritize the welfare of the pet and your safety. If a seller uses any of the following excuses, we strongly advise you to discontinue communication and report the listing.

Excuse Provided by Seller

Risk / Red Flag

What to Insist On

"Asking to meet at a gas station, pub, or parking lot for convenience."

This suggests they do not want you to see where the pet lives, which is a key sign of a puppy mill or unethical breeding setup.

Insist on meeting at their home or a vet's office. If they refuse, walk away.

"The pet's mother was taken out for a walk / isn't available right now."

This is a common tactic to hide the pet's age or the poor condition of the breeding environment.

Insist on seeing the mother (and father, if claimed) with the litter.

"They don't want to use Pet Payments because the website is slow or complicated."

They are trying to push you toward unsecured payment methods like wire transfers to prevent reversal.

Refuse to use non-secure methods. Use cash or a secure bank transfer only after seeing the pet.

"They promise they'll send you the paperwork later."

This is often used to hide missing vaccination records, false breed claims, or an expired health certificate.

Insist on receiving all vaccination and health paperwork at the time of pickup.

2. Content and Listing Rules (Animal Welfare Focus)

All listings must prioritize the welfare of the animal and provide accurate, honest information.
