When was the pet's last full shed? Does the pet have a history of retained shed (especially on toes and tail tip)?

Observe the skin—it should be clear, healthy, and not cloudy.

Mouth and Vents

Are the mouth and gums clean (no signs of mouth rot)? Is the vent/cloaca area clean and dry?

Observe for signs of infection, such as discharge or inflammation.

Bone/Shell Health

For lizards/turtles, check for signs of Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD)—swollen joints, soft shell, or wobbly movements.

Vet records confirming proper calcium/D3 supplementation.

Parasite Control

Has the pet been quarantined? Are there signs of mites (tiny black dots or specks in the water dish/enclosure)?

Written record of quarantine and any deworming treatment.

Feeding Status

When was the pet's last meal? What feeder animals are they currently accepting?

Confirmation of a consistent, appropriate feeding schedule.
